Vision Zero is a strategy Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. WalkBoston is a member of the task force for Vision Zero Boston (visionzeroboston.org), working toward eliminating traffic fatalities in Boston. Vision Zero Boston is the commitment to focus the city's resources on proven strategies to eliminate fatal and serious traffic crashes in the city by 2030, inspired by the belief that even one fatality is too many.
WalkBoston is one of founding organizations of Massachusetts Vision Zero Coalition (visionzerocoalition.org), which advocates for the implementation of Vision Zero in Boston and for the adoption of Vision Zero throughout Massachusetts. The new and growing coalition includes community-based organizations, nonprofits, businesses, civic groups and individuals representing communities across the state.
Many of our efforts over the years fall under the framework of Vision Zero: from working to reduce speed limits, to improve traffic signal timing, to pushing for Complete Streets. We'll be updating this page in the coming months with more resources and information. We'd encourage you to check out the Resource Library and Case Studies provided by the national Vision Zero Network (visionzeronetwork.org).
