Attend the next Planet Southie meeting on January 24th, where transportation engineer, Mike Tremblay, plans to share is study and design ideas for East and West Broadway. Tremblay will present possible solutions to the problem intersections, centered around addition of safer walking, biking and other street anemities to the area. DCR Draft Parks and Recreation Rules and Regulations
At this meeting, DCR will present information on draft rules and regulations governing the operations of state parks and recreational facilities, 302 CMR 12.00. These draft rules and regulations will supersede those under which the agency currently operates, contained in 350 CMR 2.00 and 350 CMR 12.00, applying to those properties in the area formerly known as DCR’s Division of Urban Parks, and in 304 CMR 12.00, applying to state park and recreational facilities outside of that area.
"Made for Walking" Lecture and book signing with Julie Campoli
Join landscape arcitect and urban designer, Julie Campoli, as she speaks about her latest book, Made for Walking: Density and Neighborhood Form at 6:30 pm on January 17th. In her book, Campoli identifies the necessary factors of a successful urban neighborhood. Based on the latest research on urban form and the travel behavior, Campoli provides new ideas about the the role of density and the importance of diverse land use.
Walking for Health & the Environment Curriculum. This curriculum was created for Massachusetts teachers who want to help children learn about the connections between walking, health, and environmental quality, whether or not their school is operating a walk-to-school pro- gram. The curriculum consists of fifteen hands-on, easy-to-implement lesson plans for Grades K-5. Each lesson meets Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks standards.
