New Pieces: Transportation Technology Systems
New pieces: Transportation technology systems
Thursday, February 20, 6:00 pm
Ryan Chin, managing director for the City Science Initiative at MIT Media Lab and international research specialist who has developed numerous technologies, strategies, and designs to address congestion, energy inefficiency, and pollution, outlines new urban vehicle systems while highlighting possibilities for Greater Boston’s space-constrained streets.
To attend, email firstname.lastname@example.org with "Traffic 2/20" in the subject line.
Beginning in October and running through June 2014, the Traffic Advisory speaker series will mine sustainable transportation opportunities that support the Boston Transportation Department’s 2014 visioning process. The city plans to set policy that ensures every Bostonian will work and reside within a quarter mile of a transit station, bike share, and car share while reducing vehicle miles traveled by 7.5 percent in seven years. These changes may result in increasing foot, transit, and bike use to two-thirds for all city trips by 2030.
